Content Standard: The learner demonstrates an understanding of the concepts in the preparation of RAC materials and tools using the different forms in RAC. 

Performance Standard: The learner independently prepares appropriate RAC materials and tools using the different forms in RAC based on industry standards.

Discuss Tools. Materials, and Equipment 

 

  • Copper Tube 
  • Tube cutter 
  • How to use flaring tools 
  • How to flare 
  • How to swage 
  • How to solder and braze (Oxy-acetylene) – Tube bender processes. 
  • Gauge manifold 
  • Vacuum Pump 
  • Recovery Machine 
  • Thermometer 
  • Refrigerants 
  • Lubricants (Oil)

Day 2 AM Session

Day 2 PM Session

  • Two pressure sides of the RAC system

Discuss Electrical section

 

Principles of Servicing Refrigeration and Air Conditioning

 

Day 3 AM Session 

 

Principles and concept of servicing Refrigeration and 

Airconditioning system 

 

  • Logical approach in servicing the electrical section 
  • Interpreting diagrams and symbols 
  • Checking of components and devices 

 

Day 3: PM Session 

 

Principles and the concept of servicing Air Conditioning 

 

  • Window AC mechanical system 
  • Electrical system 
  • Electrical components 
  • Fan motor types 

 

Servicing of refrigeration and Air Conditioning

 

Day 4 AM Session 

 

Discussion and hands-on application 

 

  • Testing of components and parts 
  • Practice flaring and bending (tubing practice) 
  • Practice setting up of oxyacetylene equipment 
  • Practice soldering and brazing of copper tubes. 
  • Practice setting up Nitrogen equipment 
  • Conduct of leak testing  
  • Set up vacuum pump 
  • Set up recovery machine 
  • Set up gauge manifold to the system

 

Day 4 PM Session 

       

Discussion and hands-on application 

 

  • Practice vacuuming of the RAC system 
  • Practice leak testing the WAC system 
  • Practice charging refrigerant

  • Unit monitoring and observation

Day 5 AM Session

  • Servicing the RAC electrical system 
  • Perform troubleshooting electrical system 
  • Perform brazing of the system by installing service ports 
  • Perform vacuuming 
  • Perform leak testing 
  • Perform charging of refrigerant 
  • Perform recovery of refrigerant 

 

Perform checking of system parameters

 

Day 5 PM Session

  • Measure sensible heat and subcooling 
  • Occupational Health and Safety 
  • Safe handling of refrigerants
