COURSE OVERVIEW  

This 5-day Project Management Workshop is designed to give managers, project teams, and key staff a practical approach and systematic process for managing projects effectively and efficiently to achieve optimum business results. This approach combines technical and people skills integral to effective project management.  These project management skills will enable project managers and other professionals to manage projects on time, on budget and with the desired results. It also emphasizes practical applications to projects that managers and key employees are responsible for on-the-job. 

During the training, coaching on cases and applications will help the participants address the actual projects they do at work. The process has been so effective in many organizations and has become the basis of many operational improvement programs.

  2. Understand the value of the elements of project management; 
  3. Develop project’s procedures of definition, planning, and implementation as well as the guidance of the project team’s operations towards achieving all the agreed upon goals within the set scope, time, quality and budget standards;

  5. Learn the practical guidelines, tools and techniques and refine our project management skills;

  • Identify the resources needed with a possible initial cost estimate based on actual activities; 
  • Assign responsibilities which clearly defines who handles each project task; 
  • Understand the usefulness of network diagrams to estimate a realistic project timeline based the critical path;  
  • Have a better view of a project’s calendar schedule using a bar chart;  
  • Develop plans that deal with potential troubles if they occur; 
  • Monitor the progress of the project at every stage against planning charts and designs; 
  • Determine how to cope with changes during implementation and modify if necessary; 
  • Evaluate the project’s success based on achievement of objectives, schedules and budget; 
  • Close out the project by informing the stakeholders and the project team that all tasks and activities have been accomplished; 
  • Communicate expectations and offer clear feedback; Support and improve project team performance; Conduct effective project meetings. 

 

METHODOLOGY

This workshop will use a case study delivery approach to provide participants with a ‘hands-on’, multifaceted and challenging learning experience. Participants will be actively engaged in progressing the project from conception to closure, and in building necessary documentation and communications tools in order to do so.  

 

This course will utilize a variety of proven adult learning techniques to ensure maximum understanding, comprehension and retention of the information presented. This includes discussions, case studies, presentations and exercises. 

 

Essentially, we shall follow the analytical process and structured learning experiences in this project management workshop.  The process and steps are taught with demonstration and case studies that will trigger thinking and brainstorming essential to resolving issues.  Participants will work individually or in teams will to initiate the use of the process on their project-related situations.  Every team will also be given the opportunity to present their case resolutions during the workshop.

Background on how Project Management started and a better understanding of the process we need to follow for better results of achieving project success. 

During this phase, the project is conceptualized in response to a project context and business case. The work of the project team is to clarify the purpose and requirements of the client, the company, and project stakeholders.

Clarification requires a project definition—the project title or goal statement, the project objectives, the required work and the resources needed.

In this phase, the responsibilities are properly assigned to qualified individuals and teams.   

The sequence and duration of the tasks are organized and estimated to determine if the project can finish within the deadline.
