Basic SAP HANA is a practical, beginner-friendly training program designed to introduce participants to the fundamentals of SAP HANA, SAP’s high-performance in-memory database and data platform. The course provides a clear understanding of HANA architecture, database concepts, data management, and the technologies used to support modern SAP applications and analytics.
Course Overview:
Basic SAP HANA is a comprehensive, hands-on training program designed to provide participants with a strong foundation in SAP HANA architecture, in-memory computing, data modeling, administration, data provisioning, security, SQL, and reporting. The course explains why SAP HANA represents a fundamentally different approach to database management and how its in-memory architecture supports high-speed data processing, real-time analytics, and modern enterprise applications.
Participants will begin by exploring the fundamentals and evolution of SAP HANA, including in-memory computing, HANA use cases, database architecture, storage concepts, and the differences between row-store and column-store approaches. The course also introduces the HANA persistence layer and essential backup and recovery concepts.
The training provides practical experience with SAP HANA modeling, including analytical views, attribute views, calculation views, joins, measures, filters, and other core modeling concepts. Participants will also learn the fundamentals of HANA SQL, functions, expressions, and procedures, enabling them to work with and analyze data within the HANA environment.
A dedicated module on data provisioning introduces different approaches to moving data into SAP HANA, including trigger-based, ETL-based, and log-based replication. Participants will also explore SAP Data Services and practical techniques for loading data from sources such as flat files.
The course further covers essential SAP HANA security and user administration, including users, roles, privileges, and access management. Participants will also learn about connectivity and reporting options, including integration with SAP BusinessObjects BI, helping them understand how HANA data can be used for business intelligence and reporting.
Through hands-on exercises and real-world scenarios, participants will develop practical knowledge of how SAP HANA is designed, modeled, secured, populated, queried, and connected to reporting environments. The course provides a solid foundation for professionals who plan to work with SAP HANA development, business intelligence, data warehousing, analytics, or administration.
By the end of the course, participants will be able to explain SAP HANA architecture, create basic data models, work with HANA SQL, understand data provisioning methods, manage users and security, and connect HANA to reporting and analytics solutions.
