  • Giving useful constraints
  • Defining the desired output

Working With Gemini as a Conversation

  • Asking follow-up questions

  • Using Gemini as a learning coach rather than simply asking for answers

Understanding and Summarizing Information

  • Summarizing lengthy information
  • Identifying key points
  • Extracting action items
  • Comparing information
  • Turning information into organized notes
  • Converting information into checklists, tables, or step-by-step guides

Research and Problem-Solving

  • Allowing AI-generated messages to become generic or impersonal

 Exercise: Inbox Challenge

Participants use Gemini to work through realistic email situations, such as:

  • responding to a request;
  • summarizing a lengthy conversation;
  • writing a professional follow-up;
  • improving an unclear message; and
  • extracting action items from an email thread.

Integrative Activity: From Task to AI-Assisted Workflow

Participants apply the techniques learned throughout the program to a realistic workplace task.

They will:

  1. Define what they need to accomplish.
  2. Determine whether and how Gemini should be used.
  3. Identify what information can safely be shared.
  4. Develop an effective initial prompt.
  5. Refine the output through conversation.
  6. Review the result for accuracy, completeness, and appropriateness.
  7. Produce a final work-ready output.

The activity reinforces a simple workflow participants can continue using after the program:

Think → Prompt → Review → Refine → Verify → Use

Training Approach

The program prioritizes guided demonstrations and hands-on exercises over lecture. Concepts are introduced in short segments and immediately followed by practical activities so participants can build confidence in using Gemini throughout the day.

Participants will use:

  • Gemini web application for general AI-assisted work and learning
  • Gemini in Gmail for email-related applications

Participant Requirements

Participants should have:

  • An active organizational Google Workspace account
  • Access to Gemini through their organizational account
  • Access to Gemini features in Gmail
  • A laptop with reliable internet access
  • Access to their Gmail account during the training

30-Day Gemini Application Challenge

To reinforce learning after the program, participants will complete a 30-day workplace application challenge using Gemini.

Over the next month, each participant should apply Gemini to at least five real work situations.

Application Checklist

Complete at least one activity from each area:

  1. Learn Something Faster
  • Use Gemini to explain an unfamiliar topic, process, or concept.
  • Ask follow-up questions until the explanation is clear.

  1. Improve Email Productivity
  • Use Gemini in Gmail to draft, improve, summarize, or respond to an email or email conversation.

For Every Use of Gemini

Participants should practice the following:

☐ I identified what I wanted to accomplish before prompting Gemini.
☐ I provided enough context for Gemini to understand the task.
☐ I did not provide confidential, personal, or sensitive information unnecessarily.
☐ I reviewed the AI-generated response instead of accepting it automatically.
☐ I refined the response when necessary.
☐ I verified important facts or information before using the output.
☐ I remained responsible for the final work produced.

30-Day Validation Output

At the end of the 30-day period, participants will submit a short Gemini Application Report containing:

  1. Task
What workplace task or challenge did you use Gemini for?
  2. Application
How did you use Gemini to assist you?
  3. Result
What did Gemini help you accomplish faster, better, or more easily?
  4. Human Review
What did you need to correct, verify, change, or improve before using the output?
  5. Reflection
What is one Gemini practice you intend to continue using in your work?

Participants may submit three completed examples from their 30-day challenge.

Success Criteria

Successful application is demonstrated when the participant can:

  • Recognize appropriate opportunities to use Gemini
